Howard Lindzon : Stocktwits Passes 80,000 Followers and Hedge Funds Begin to Embrace Twitter

It's great that stocktwits can provide real time information from around the globe and different perspective from various people with multiple backgrounds. However, I am more concern with the validity of the information as there can be jokers, spammers, pumpers and dumpers. Stocktwits can be a great place of wealth or a place where sheep can be led to slaughter. I provided the pros and cons.

Thanks and I have looked at it. Tend to be trading less in this market and have not been too active.

"Since 2006 I have been banging the table about real time financial information from trusted sources."

Completely agree on how Stocktwits is going to deliver just that - and I think Twitter's recent moves into verified accounts and later, reputational ranking algorithm, will really help achieve that.

"I believe Stocktwits goal of becoming ‘The Social Bloomberg’ is ambitious, fun and closer to a reality"

This is awesome... let all these older sites muster around with the market data, no big value there, same old game. But Stocktwits has the community. Sentiment could be really interesting if you splice it in various ways - top/recommended traders, then by sector, and then overall.

I cannot wait to see what StockTwits 2.0 will become as the next wave of adopters floods in.
  • newrulesofinvesting · 4 months ago
totally agree. More people on the platform, more information shared, more value and more capabilities to roll out interesting feature sets "that match research and customers in real time".

Question though -- for those investors not trading and more just looking to pick and choose their spots, what's in it for them to adopt StockTwits? They're not trading the news but instead looking for good, well-reasoned ideas without a lot of jargon.

Howard tweeted recently about how some publications/networks have ignored stocktwits when discussing twitter's impact on the markets. Makes little sense to me. Ignoring stocktwits wont make the company go away. Stocktwits was first to market and it will be very hard (impossible really) to compete against. As more premium features get introduced, as well as advanced filtering, the company will simply become more and more valuable.

    Howard:

If I use that link you posted in the body of the thread post it sends me to the sign in page, however if I use the same username and password it won't let me in saying it doesn't recognize the account.
